Think you can write a sexy short story for us to publish on our website? Senior Editor, Christy Kate McKenzie, launches our very first writing competition!
It's officially the start of summer (well, almost) and things are starting to heat up in Romanceland!
June marks the beginning of holidays in the UK and the quest for the perfect beach read begins. It's time for sensual summer flings, hot exotic locales, and steamy… Well, I'll just let you use your imagination. In fact, we here at PHS want you to really use your imagination.
As part of our on-going efforts to help aspiring authors find their way to publication, PHS will host a number of writing contests throughout the year. Prizes and submission requirements may vary from contest to contest, but one thing will remain constant—our desire to see you succeed!
This month, we kick off the first of several opportunities to try your hand at writing romance. We are specifically looking for unpublished authors to submit their sexy shorts (stories or excerpts) in the PHS Summer Lovin' Short Story Contest!
Give us your hottest heroes, your steamiest stories, and your sexiest summer fantasies. If you can leave us breathless and blushing in 3,000 words, you might just be crowned the winner and get to see your story published in an upcoming Pink Heart Society edition! What's more, the winner will get a critique and line edit on the first three chapters of their current WIP from our managing editor, Trish Wylie, whose gems of wisdom in the ongoing Common Romance Writing Mistakes (And How To Fix Them) workshop has been received so well by the Aspiring Authors on our Forum.
This is an incredible opportunity for authors hoping to receive The Call or release independently. More details, including the deadline and rules, will be released in our Aspiring Authors Forum very soon, so if you haven't signed up already...
Need help preparing your submission? Also coming to our Forum this month are two short workshops specifically aimed at helping you learn to write racy! First up, learn about Intimacy in the Age of Consent with Michelle Styles. Keep your readers gasping for more all the while keeping consent a priority. Later, spend time with Avril Tremayne, author for Harlequin Mills & Boon's newest line, DARE, learning how to push the boundaries with your writing and leave your readers satisfied.
Don't want to miss workshops, contests, and all the other exciting things we have planned? Then join the PHS Aspiring Authors Group on Facebook. The group has been a hive of activity since it first opened and is gaining new members daily. Come chat, check out the daily posts, and stay up-to-date with what's new at The Pink Heart Society. Not on Facebook? Head over to The Pink Heart Society website and register on our Forum. All the workshops are hosted there.
But for now, it's time to get a jump on the competition. Grab a margarita, throw on some sunglasses, head out to the sun deck, and start planning your Summer Lovin' Short Story today!
We know you can do it!!!
